Echo Park Craft Fair moves downtown this weekend

event moves to the downtown L.A. Arts District.
Founded in 2009 by shoe designer Beatrice Valenzuela,
the Echo Park Craft Fair has expanded to include more than
40 exhibitors, said co-organizer Rachel Craven,
who had hosted the event at her home.

"We live in such a rich, artistic community," said Craven, who will
be selling her hand-block-printed linen napkins and placemats.
"But we needed a larger space. The backyard of my house just
couldn't fit us anymore."

stained glass, textiles, letterpress stationery, food, fragrances,
candles and fashion. Among the many jewelry designers:
Cathy Callahan and Tanya Aguiniga. Other participants include Beth Katz,
the ceramist behind Mount Washington Pottery; Morgan Peck,
who produces architectural slab-built clay pieces; and Craven's
found-object toymaker son, Miles, 7, who will be manning a
lemonade concession serving refreshments made with the
harvest from his backyard tree.
