Here is the city guide of my friend Nicole Cari!

In the last few years I’ve fallen in love with the LA lifestyle (only thing is I am still not used to the idea of having to have a car…) but this is definitely a city where I’d love to go spend a few months one day. In the meantime, I ask my friends for their best adresses and each time I go there, I discover a new treasure!

You might still be recovering from holiday retail trauma, but trust us, one look at these ultra-chic clothes and accessories and you'll be resuscitating your credit line stat. If you really need another reason to justify adding some of Tavin's far-out flair to your wardrobe, here's one: Take 10% off your purchases throughout January. Stop by the Echo Park location or its Etsy shop, and don't freak out if you can't choose between all the wondrous goods — you have all month to make up your mind.

old-school seams. In a city known for making old things look fresher 
than they really are, it's no surprise that L.A. yields some of the best 
vintage in the country. So whether you're cruising the red carpet, 
taking road trips to the desert or ordering your third cup 
of Intelligentsia, retro always rocks.

9. Tavin

Stepping into Tavin is like falling into Joni Mitchell's walk-in closet circa Ladies of the Canyon. Gauzy summer dresses, lace shawls, floral headscarves, '70s Afghani tunics and faded objets d'art make this little treasure trove a must for wistful-eyed romantics and wild poets. Even the price tags are handwritten, with little thoughts penned by store owner Erin Tavin (you'll recognize her by her abundant blond curls).
